Moms and Dads!! As with any internet use, please check out the site first before your child goes exploring!
explore.org - a wondrous collection of live cams, films, and photos from around our magnificent planet. In the summer I am glued to the brown bear cams in Katmai National Park, Alaska, as the bears feast on salmon.
NASA has a fantastic website. I LOVE the “Planets” and “Kids” sections. (They seem to be a bit under construction - be patient while the pages load.)
Then there is NASA’s AWESOME Image of the Day page. Check out the “Image Archives”.
But the most phenomenal of all…NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). To see out-of-this-world, almost impossible-to-imagine photos of what’s “waaay out there”.
Weather Wiz Kids is perfect for your weather enthusiast (or yourself - LOL!)
Be sure to learn more about my favorite animals - visit the Shedd Aquarium (I LOVE sea otters and octopuses - who knew?!?)
Closer to home is the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL (near I-88 and Route 53). There are delightful family programs all year long. Be sure to check out Science Camp for the summer!
Of course, you know about National Geographic Kids!
Don't ignore our farming history -- visit the Kids' Ag Page sponsored by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
The Exploratorium in San Francisco, CA is a cool place to visit on line (or in person!)
